BX-SCREED

Binder for Screeds for Floor Levelling

BINDER FOR SCREEDS

BX SCREED

BX Screed is a binder for screeds, used for floor levelling before fixing tiles and natural stones with the wet-on-wet technique. It can also be used as a dry screed for underlay application and floor levelling.

* Depending on the humidity of the inert material. Local standards might request different proportions.

HOW TO USE

  • Preparation of the surface: all surfaces must be dimensionally stable according to IS 1443-1972, level, cured, undamaged, compact, rigid, resistant, dry and free from any debonding agents and from rising damp.
  • Screed preparation: mix BX Screed with water and sand until a semi-dry consistency is obtained. The sand must be cleaned from dust and earth residues. This makes screeds 20 to 80 mm thick. The amount of mixing water varies with the humidity of the inert material.
  • Application: apply BX Screed with the traditional methods for cement-based screeds. Prepare the levelling layers, cast and compact the mix, flatten it, and give a final smoothing with a power floater or mechanical means. Compact the screed carefully to get the required mechanical performance.
  • Cleaning: wash residual traces of BX Screed off tools and machinery with water before the product hardens.

GENERAL NOTICES

  • Abide by any standards and national regulations.
  • Use the recommended dosages.
  • Do not add other binders, additives or water to the mixture during the setting phase.
  • Low temperatures and high relative humidity lengthen the drying time of the screed.
  • Too much water, or inert materials with a grading lower than recommended or not assorted, will reduce strength and drying time.
  • Before fixing hardwood floors and resilient materials, check residual moisture with a calcium carbide hygrometer.
  • Do not moisten the screed, and protect it from direct sunlight and air currents for the first 24 hours.
